Obama speaks  about the struggling industry of newspapers, democracy, serious fact checking and quality of information on the blogosphereObama parla della sua preoccupazione per il modo in cui viene trattata l’informazione online al di fuori dei giornali e magazine tradizionali su blog e social network :“”I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context,” he said, “that what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding.”

Obama segnala anche il suo generico favore al  supporto di quotidiani e magazine con aiuti finanziari e legislativi: “What I hope is that people start understanding if you’re getting your newspaper over the Internet, that that’s not free. And there’s got to be a way to find a business model that supports that.”

Secono Obama solo le redazioni tradizionali sia online che offline, hanno dimostrato la capacità – fondamentale in una democrazia moderna- di divulgare notizie e informazioni fondate su un serio processo di fact checking.
